On January 10 and 11, 2026, the "2026 Workshop on Astrostatistics and Artificial Intelligence", hosted by Shanghai University of Engineering Science, organized by the School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics and co-organized by the Center for Computational Physics and Applied Research, concluded successfully at the Songjiang Campus. Closely following the national strategies of "data-driven scientific discovery" and "AI+", the workshop brought together experts from leading institutions such as Peking University and the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to explore a new research paradigm of "statistics + astronomy + AI" on the basis of our university's strengths in statistics and computational science.
The School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics will take this high-level workshop as an opportunity to accelerate the construction of the "Joint Innovation Laboratory for Astrostatistics and Intelligent Computing", continue to deepen its work in interdisciplinary fields, and contribute the wisdom of SUES to the national space strategy and the high-quality economic development of the region.
