On November 8, “2023 Soft Sciences of China’s Best Disciplines Ranking” was officially released. A total of 5,053 disciplines from 485 universities were on the list. The statistics discipline of the School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics successfully entered the list and achieved the 34th place in the national ranking and the top 30% in the country, ranking the 1st place of Shanghai universities.

In recent years, under the leadership of the university, the School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics has been closely focusing on serving the national strategy and local economic construction, innovating the development mode, centering on cross-fertilization, and making excellent achievements in the construction of first-class disciplines. All the faculty members of the School will take the ranking of 2023 as a new starting point, riveting their energy and striving for the top, and build the discipline of statistics into an advantageous and characteristic discipline with deep basic research and cross integration of disciplines.
