An in-depth discussion between School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics of SUES and School of Mathematical Sciences of Sunway-U on the Joint PhD Supervision

On June 2nd, Professor Kok Lay Teo, Associate Dean of School of Mathematical Sciences, Sunway University, Malaysia, was invited to have a symposium on the Joint PhD Supervision, so as to serve the national "One Belt, One Road" strategy and to cultivate international talents in mathematics and statistics. The symposium was hosted by Prof. Wang Guoqiang, Dean of School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics.

Prof. Wang Guoqiang expressed deep gratitude to Prof. Kok Lay Teo for visiting our school. Prof. Wang introduced the current progress of the joint PhD supervision program, the main research direction and employment situation of the graduate students, and the further promotion plan for the program. Prof. Teo introduced the main research areas included in the School of Mathematical Sciences of Sunway-U, and the application requirements for the joint PhD program. Zhou Xiaozhou, Deputy Director of the International Office, introduced the support policy for joint supervision programs of SUES, and also welcomed Malaysian students to study in our university. The promotion of the 2+2 program for undergraduate students, the short-term summer study program and the research cooperation between teachers from both sides were also discussed.

After the symposium, Prof. Teo also had a discussion with the graduate students to further know about their current situation.
