School of Mathematics, Physics & Statistics attaches great importance to enhancing students’ overall quality and extracurricular activities in Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics, along with the mission to nurture high-caliber, innovative engineering talents with comprehensive strengths and competitiveness.

 

The School consists of the Department of University Mathematics, the Department of Applied Mathematics, the Department of Applied Statistics, the Department of University Physics, the Department of Optoelectronic Physics, Physical Experiment Center, the Institute of Applied Mathematics (non-independent system), the Center of Intelligent Computing and Applied Statistics, Office of School and Office of Students’ Affairs.

 

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the School has achieved a tremendous and sustainable development in academic research. The School undertook 22 projects of NFSC, 1 Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars, State Education Ministry, 5 Natural Science Foundations of Shanghai and 2 projects supported by the “ChenGuang Plan” of Shanghai. The total amount of scientific research funds is more than 12.5 million yuan. Meanwhile, a total of 100 high-level research papers (the first author) have been published indexed by SCI.
