Postgraduate Students of Our University Achieved Outstanding Results in the 11th National Statistical Modeling Competition

On October 26th, the 11th Statistical Modeling Competition concluded successfully at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics. Competing against top-tier teams from across the country, the postgraduate team from our university delivered an exceptional performance, securing one national second prize and one national third prize, marking a further advancement in the award rankings of this competition.

Launched in February 2025, the competition spanned several months and involved multiple rigorous evaluation stages, including university-level selections, provincial reviews, national-level communication reviews, and oral defense sessions. Throughout the competition, the participants worked tirelessly day and night, overcoming challenges and continuously refining their projects. They engaged in cross-disciplinary and cross-faculty collaboration, applying statistical modeling to fields such as medicine, management, information science, and engineering, showcasing the comprehensive innovative application capabilities of our university's students.

It is reported that in this year’s competition, a total of 336 postgraduate and undergraduate students from our university participated, forming 44 teams. These teams represented multiple schools, including the School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Management, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, School of Urban Railway Transportation, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, and School of Textiles and Fashion. In total, they achieved one national second prize, one national third prize, six Shanghai division first prizes, four second prizes, and seven third prizes.
