In the morning of Nov. 4th, the 6th party branch of the School of Mathematics, Physics and Statistics (SMPS), together with the professors of physics, holds an experience-sharing meeting for the academic competition and innovation competition. The seminar intends to encourage students’ enthusiasm for innovation and their own startup business and create a good environment for academic competition.
In recent years, the professors in SMPS have answered the call for mass entrepreneurship and innovation. They advise students in the university and have good achievements in various competitions, including academic, innovation, and startup projects. Professors share their own research experience with students and help them quickly grow up such that the innovation and entrepreneurship competition becomes an essential place for the “three wide education.”
During the meeting, both professors and student representative give their own experience and understanding of the competition to the fresh students. Dr. Wang Lili (secretory of the 6th party branch), Prof. Qin Liguo (chair of the department of College Physics), Prof. Zhang Xiuli (chair of the department of Optoelectronic Physics) share their experience in competition and their understanding of the importance of the competition. They encourage the students to have a study plan for their lives in the university, which helps students organize their time well. They also hope students have a deeper understanding of the materials they learn when they prepare for the competition. Besides, they wish the students can enhance their total capacity after conquering the challenges in front of them.
Prof. Qin Liguo invites Lu Yi, award the winner of the innovation and entrepreneurship competition, to share his own experience and story during the competition. Lu discusses his team build-up, topic pick-up, project application, project implementation, and project defense. Mainly, he emphasizes that team building is the essential part of the competition. He suggests that the teams with interdisciplinary members will have more chances to win the award. Members with different backgrounds are complimentary during the competition such that everyone can have their unique experience. Besides, Lu encourages other students to attend more competitions, neglecting the time limitation. He thinks the experience in the competition helps him be more focused on his study. At the end of the discussion, Lu shares his business plan and advertising video for the competition. The actual case helps the students have a better understanding of the competition. During the interaction session, Lu answers the questions and concerns from the students and professors who join the meeting.
After the experience sharing meeting, some students stay inside the conference room and had more questions for Lu and the professors. Students are more interested in attending the competition and have more confidence in getting an award from the competition.
